Patrick graduated with a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree, in Second Class Upper Division from the University of Benin in 1990 and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1991. He went on to obtain an LLM from the University of Lagos (1994), an LLM in Environmental Law from the London School of Economics (1995) on a Commonwealth Scholarship, and a PhD in Law from the University of Wales, Aberystwyth United Kingdom in 2011.
He began his career in academia as an Assistant Lecturer before transiting into legal practice in London as a litigator and corporate attorney. In 2002, he founded Kola Fitzpatrick & Co. Solicitors, serving as Senior Partner until 2022, and now leads practices in Nigeria and the UAE through Kola Fitzpatrick Law Partnership (Abuja) and Fitzpatrick & Partners FZ LLC (Dubai), respectively.
Dr. Okonmah is widely published and a frequent speaker on environmental law, with expertise in litigation, arbitration, oil and gas, commercial, international environmental, and development law. He also sits on the boards of two Nigerian oil and gas companies and chairs Nazar Ambulance Services LLC and its subsidiaries across Dubai, Nigeria, and the UK.
